Spotify has reduced its premium six-month subscription rate for UK users from £9.99 a month to £6.49.
The special deal, which is the result of sponsorship from online car insurance company Swiftcover, runs until Monday 2 November.
Spotify subscribers can listen to songs on their mobiles and free of adverts.
The offer was made available to Spotify users who opted in to receive news of special promotions when they signed up to the service.
Customers can cancel at any time within the six months to return to the ad-funded option.
Spotify has denied that the price-cut is a response to the launch of the Sky Songs and Napster services earlier this month, which offer unlimited streaming packages cheaper than Spotify’s normal monthly fee of £9.99.
Spotify have reduced its premium six-month subscription rate for UK users from £9.99 a month to £6.49. You can thank Swiftcover for this one as its down to a recent sponsorship deal between the two that has allowed Spotify to reduce its price.
Spotify has denied that the price-cut is a response to the launch of the Sky Songs and Napster (whatever) services earlier this month, which offer unlimited streaming packages cheaper than Spotify’s normal monthly fee of £9.99.
Does this signal trouble ahead for the music streaming service. Only time will tell.
